More members of Congress are being allowed to see photos of Osama bin Laden’s corpse which were taken at the al Qaeda leader’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan and on a naval vessel.

In a report with CNN, Sen. Inofe describes the photos as being “pretty gruesome” with brains hanging out of bin Laden’s eye socket.

Members of the Senate and House committees that deal with intelligence and military matters have been invited to see the photos, but won’t be allowed to take any copies.

ST. PAUL, Minn – The state Senate today approved a statewide vote in 2012 on gay marriage ban in the Minnesota Constitution, pushing forward what is expected to be a contentious debate over the definition of legal unions.

The measure passed by a vote of 38-27 in the Senate with only one Democrat voting yes, in favor of a gay marriage ban vote. That Democrat was Leroy Stumph of Plummer, MN.

Proposed constitutional amendments do not go through the govenor, denying Democratic Gov. Mrk Dayton a chance to block it.

Groups on both sides of the debate sent out urgent messages to encourage people to contact lawmakers before the vote.

Democrats have long prevented a vote by the full Senate but lost their governing majority in the 2010 election.

WAPUPACA, WISCONSIN – Judge Philip Kirk had harsh words for a man convicted of molesting four different young boys in the course of 40 years. When Delton Gorges claimed he was straight despite the conviction, Kirk said, “I think you were born gayer than a sweet-smelling jockstrap.” Fox 11 Wisconsin reports:

“”I think that if anyone believes that in the last 10 years or 15 years all of a sudden you developed an interest in homosexuality and young boys, then I must have looked ravishing in my prom dress this year,” Kirk said.

Judge Kirk said his sentence had nothing to do with Gorges’ sexuality.

“I think that you lived your life as a lie all of your years,” Kirk said. “And I don’t doubt that you engaged in heterosexual behaviors, you got married and had a child. But it was all a lie.”

“Everywhere I look, I see them calling it ’4,’ she told Billboard. “I had a whole other name and concept, but I keep seeing that the fans love the name ’4,’ and I think it would be a really nice thing to let them name the record.

No official release date has yet been confirmed, but it is reportedly scheduled for June.

Across the country, legally married gay couples are taking a stand. We are refusing to lie about the fact that we are married.

If you are a gay couple, legally married in a state or country that performs such marriages, can you file your federal income tax return as married even if the federal government refuses to acknowledge your marriage?

General Answer: Because the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) defines marriage for federal tax purposes as excluding same-sex couples, only opposite-sex couples can file as married.

Note: GLAD has filed suit in federal district court in Massachusetts, claiming that DOMA is unconstitutional. Their lawsuit includes a number of plaintiffs who want to file their tax returns as married rather than single.

Tax advisers have warned same-sex married couples not to file as married (either jointly or separately) because of the possible imposition of penalties for doing so. Yet the federal return requires you to swear under penalties of perjury that all statements in the return are true. If you object to signing this statement on a return in which you have been forced by the federal government to lie about your marital status, there are some things you can do.

One option is to put an asterisk by the single box and at the bottom of the form indicate that you are only single under DOMA.

Taking this principled stand is not without risk and each person doing so needs to carefully consider those risks before deciding if it is a stand you are willing to take.  Those participating in the campaign say its worth the extra money to stand up for their rights as married gays. Whether the impact of the “Refuse to Lie” campaign will have any impact on the overturn of DOMA is yet to be seen.

National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is not just a day for the Black community to recognize the impact of HIV/AIDS in our community, but rather a time to educate, teach, get involved, get tested! As a community, we need to recommit to ending the further spread of HIV/AIDS and the ignorance that perpetuates the disease cycle among all people. Step 1: Be informed.  Know the facts so that we speak and act from a place of knowledge not misinformation or fear.

Step 2: Speak openly.  This includes at home — with our partners and children — as well as in our communities.  When we don’t talk about HIV we reinforce stigma which allows it to spread.

Step 3: Use protection.  For those who are sexually active condoms offer very effective protection against HIV/AIDS, but we have to use them.

Step 4: Get Tested and Treated.  One in five people in the U.S. living with HIV/AIDS don’t know they are infected.  Early diagnosis and treatment helps people with HIV live longer and healthier lives, and those who know their status take actions to protect others.

Step 5: Act.  Get involved in your community.  Find an AIDS organization in your area and volunteer, or organize an event of your own to help get out the word.  Greater Than AIDS offers tips for doing so.
